Biography

Marjorie Carrington Oboe

Marjorie began playing the oboe at the age of 11 and was a member of the Devon County Youth Orchestr . She went on to study music at Birmingham Conservatoire and completed her Masters degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2004.

Between 2005 and 2012, Marjorie lived in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where she held the position of 2nd oboe with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. As a freelance musician she has worked with The Philharmonia Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana and in West End shows such as Lloyd Webber’s Woman in White and The Savoy Opera.

Marjorie now lives in Farnham with her husband and 3 children and still loves any opportunity to play music. She is delighted to be a member of Farnham Sinfonia since 2019.
